From Sydney to New York
The Journey

2005
SYD
Upon opening in Sydney, Salon Ruggeri appeared in various media, both print and on-line. The success was owed partly due to the secrecy that surrounded the location. Salon Ruggeri was located on the corner of a quite tree lined street, was white with a rather large Red Painted Bow with no signage. The idea behind the bow was ‘The greatest gift you could give yourself was an appointment at Salon Ruggeri’. Clients loved the anonymity of the location & felt that they were part of a secret club.
With every detail meticulously overseen by Craig, from the chandelier shades matching the Missoni Tea cup saucers, to the custom joinery to complement the interior's black & white color palette.
From the music played to what types of teas and coffee are served, the ambiance of the Salon is the key to any succesful business. "How best to service a guest at our salon" is always on our mind.

With our loved belongings, we set up to create our NYC salon, with the addition of a few new mid-century pieces.
Craig decided that he was going to create the "Portrait within a Portrait" installation so that the guest's reflection would be in itself a piece of art alongside the mounted pieces.

Salon Ruggeri moved to Murray Hill where we set up in an ornate Italianate Brownstone.
With a larger ceiling span, Craig was able to showcase his talents with his collage of hanging art.

The Private Parlour, where the "Portrait Within a Portrait" installation resided.

Our Celebrity Portrait Gallery, featuring works by the talented Daniela Fedrici, which is currently on show for the Summer. All prints are limited edition and are available for purchase.

Cole and Son Wallpaper adorn the walls of the main parlour, with a plush velvet sofa and a Gio Ponti floor lamp making the final details of our new location effortless.

NYC
And so we packed up our lives, including our beloved dogs, and moved to New York City. Bringing with us a 20 ft container of all our cherished belongings. Settling into a triplex on West 18th Street, in the heart of Chelsea.
After 5 years of establishing Salon Ruggeri, we have decided to make one last move, 254 Fifth Avenue to the Chić NoMad district.
